The Banjos - 2006 Rogue Beginner's 5-String Banjo

This is a very inexpensive beginner's 5-string open-back banjo purchased from Musician's Friend as one of their daily "stupid deal" specials. For the price, it holds tuning pretty well and the sound produced is reasonable as well; it was just the ticket to determine if Rocky was really serious about wanting to learn how to play banjo or not. So far, not...

The various components of this banjo are in pretty cheap but that is to me expected in an instrument of this price range. The tuners are very cheap and the 5th string nut is just barely functional. The neck seems to be reasonably straight and the head produces a banjo-like sound. That's about all I can expect from this example.

The tone and playability of this instrument make it suitable as a beginning instrument for "old-time", clawhammer style banjo music.
