The Details of Rocky's Recovery

Initial Entry - Thursday, April 16 11:41am

Hi out there! First of all, I want to thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers and good wishes during a very scary time. It has meant more than I could ever hope to express and I'm convinced that your efforts have been a big factor in my recovery.

Just a little update on my progress... I had x-rays last week and got to take the cervical collar off - a very pleasant surprise! I started physical therapy last Thursday and am now working toward regaining strength and range of motion. Everyday seems a little better and the 'light at the end of the tunnel' appears less like a freight train. I'm looking forward to getting back to the gym (at least the treadmill) and returning to yoga and tai chi classes when given the okay from P.T. and/or physician.

Thanks again for your kindness and friendship. I feel fortunate to have all of you in my life.

Love,

C;^)

Just another brief update on my progress...

Thing are moving along fairly well with physical therapy and I'm finally back to the gym doing an abbreviated workout. Still some occasional discomfort but nothing like it was a few weeks ago. The goal is to start back with yoga and Tai Chi classes in the next few weeks.

Spring has been spectacular here and I've really enjoyed it! It seems as if something new has been blooming every day for weeks! Spring in South Florida was always wonderful but so much more subtle and brief. I'll always miss the greening of the cypress trees and the glorious Jacaranda and Poinciana trees in full bloom. And, yes, Sheila, I'll miss the incredible fragrance of the orange blossoms and gardenias. I guess I'll have to make do with tulips, azaleas, rhododendron, mountain laurel, daffodils, iris, day lilies, etc.

Thanks again to all of you for your kindness and caring. I hope to be able to see everyone in the coming months.

Love,

C;^)

- Rocky got the green light to resume full, normal activity from her neurosurgeon during her 6-month follow-up yesterday; she still has some healing to do but he is happy with the results so far and the Xrays did not show any movement of the secured vertebra. Good news! However, she is now down with severe bronchitis (no, she didn't attend or even watch the Gators play last weekend) so she's taking things very easy for a while. We hope to take a trip next week to see friends in Georgia and she doesn't want to miss that!
